[New!] Camp Education Establishes Internet Presence

Press Releases

Alistair Cameron History Competition.

The Alistair Cameron History Competition was set up as an annual competition in memory of the late Alistair Cameron.

The aim of the competition is to foster a sense of Falkland Island History in our children. This is by undertaking a variety of projects on historic subjects, using different skills to record the past.

Children are encouraged to liaise with families, particularly the older generation, and with other community sources such as the Museum, to find out relevant information.

The Competition takes place in July, and the winners are presented with a medal at the end of the school year  Prizegiving.

SUMMER CAMP

Camp Education holds a summer camp for the children, generally during November when the weather is warmer. The camps are rotated between East Falkand and West Falkland so that the children see a variety of areas. There is usually a theme and last year’s was History and Tourism. The Camp was held on Saunders Island, which was the site of the first Falkland Islands settlement.

Sometimes the children camp in tents and sometimes they may have an old shanty to stay in. On Saunders Island they stayed in the tourist accommodation, which gave them a good idea of what tourists experience when visiting the Falklands.

The children always mix in well and have a wonderful time.
